This year the Mega Tree height was increase by 10 ft. This required a new base support, and rewiring of the crank system with longer cable to enable the travelling collar to reach the top. A new 30″ three axis star is on top, wired up with LED Ropelight, which I really like. In order to get the tree down I went to a hinge design base plate. The plate you will see with four bolts actually is hinged. removing the four bolts enables you to lean the pole over and lower to ground. It worked great on the rig up also. Thanks go to John L. for his welding skills. Below the plate is another 2-3/8″ Pipe, which can slide into another large pipe, which is set in 5 ft. on concrete. This enables me to remove everything from the yard above ground during the off season. What you have is 4 colors of 12 channels R-G-B-W or 48 strands of 4 strings each (70 lights/string C-6 LED) = 13,440 lights. This totally free standing with no guy wires. The pipe is rigid, and has worked fine for 2 years now.
